Hundreds of volunteers will again spend the holiday preparing turkey dinners for elderly Copper Country residents who would otherwise be alone. Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly will serve free Thanksgiving dinners for seniors. Little Brothers Director Cathy Aten says this year’s addition of a meal site in Marquette will push the number of meals provided past 1,100. Meals will be served at 1:00 at the following locations:
Hancock – Church of the Resurrection
Calumet – Sacred Heart Church
Houghton – St. Ignatius Church
Tapiola – Doelle Senior Center
South Range – Grace Lutheran Church
Copper City – Copper City Community Building
Ontonagon – Holy Family Church
Baraga – St. Ann’s Church
Marquette – St. Christopher’s Catholic Church
A private meal will be served at the Houghton County Medical Care facility. Meals will also be delivered to homebound seniors from Grace United Methodist Church in Houghton, and the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Laurium.
Bethel Church in L’Anse will serve its annual free Thanksgiving Dinner from 11:00 until 2:00 at the L’Anse Knights of Columbus Hall. All are invited.
