Michigan Minimum Wage Raised

Miminum wage workers in Michigan will see an increase in their next paychecks.

On Wednesday, Michigan’s minimum hourly standard rose to $9.65 per hour. The base pay for tipped workers – such as restaurant wait staff – rose to $3.67 per hour.

In 2018, a citizen initiative to increase the Michigan minimum wage to $12.00 per hour by 2022 collected enough signatures to be placed on the ballot. The Republican-led legislature bypassed the ballot option by passing the measure, but later amended it so that the $12.00 level won’t be required until 2030.
