Gas Prices Rise Slightly Ahead of Christmas

As we head into the Christmas travel season, gasoline prices are marginally higher in our region than they were a week ago.

AAA Michigan’s survey puts the coat of a gallon of unleaded regular in the Marquette metro area at $2.48 per gallon. That’s a penny higher than last week, four cents lower than a month ago, and 25 cents higher than a year ago.

Keweenaw County again has the highest average gas price in the state, at $2.80 per gallon. Houghton County is eight cents above Marquette County, at $2.56. Baraga County matches the state average, at $2.47.
