31 Backpacks Receives $10k Donation

31 Backpacks has received a big boost for its efforts to help feed hungry area kids.

The non-profit received a check for $10,000 from the Aspirus Keweenaw Health Foundation during its Christmas Big Pack event Monday evening.

Melissa Maki from 31 Backpacks said the donation was greatly appreciated, as is support they receive any time…

At Glad Tidings Church Monday night, volunteers filled 920 bags of food that will be distributed to kids who might otherwise go hungry without school breakfasts and lunches over the Christmas break. The food was delivered to participating schools yesterday morning…

Students who receive the food are identified by school district employees. 31 Backpacks also provides food for weekends, and for spring vacation.

If you would like to support 31 Backpacks’ effort, send donations to 1100 Century Way, Suite C, Houghton MI 49931.
