Glenn Anderson will serve as chair of Houghton County’s Correct Count Committee.
The Houghton County commissioner and former Hancock City manager accepted the responsibility at last night’s county board meeting.
The Correct Count Committee will work with the U.S. Census Bureau to help make sure all county residents fill out and return their forms in next year’s national count. Other committee members will be recruited from among county residents.
Anderson said the first job is to remind snowbirds that it doesn’t matter where you’re located when you receive a census form. Your census home is the place where you live the most time. The same goes for college students…
Each census form correctly filled out helps bring state and federal money and appropriate political apportionment to your home county.
