Students planning to enroll in college next fall and their families can get a head start on the financial aid process tonight at the Portage Lake District Library.
The TRIO Pre-College Program will host a Financial Aid Night, to help with filling out the notorious FAFSA form…
TRIO’s Kaillee Laplander says the Free Application for Federal Student Aid isn’t as intimidating as it used to be, but it’s still tricky.
Many colleges also require that the form be submitted with applications, so all prospective students should fill it out.
TRIO staff will be on hand at the library tonight at 6:00 to present a brief overview of financial aid. They will then help participants fill out the form online.
Laplander says you can also complete the form yourself online, anytime… but, be careful…
Tonight’s session is also free.
Families will need social security numbers, 2018 tax data and any records of untaxed income for both the student and parents/guardians to complete the FAFSA. Link to the official website here.
