KBIC Primary Features Full Ballots

Keweenaw Bay Indian Community members will have a lot of candidates to sort through in the annual primary election tomorrow.

Registered voters in the L’Anse District will vote at the Zeba Community Hall. Registered voters in the Baraga District will vote at the Ojibwa Senior Citizens Center.

Polls will be open from 10:00 until 6:00.

Candidates in the Baraga District are (in alphabetical order):
– Agatha M. Cardinal
– Donald L. Chosa, Jr.
– Larry Denomie, III
– Gerald H. Friisvall
– Michael P. Lahti
– Carole L. LaPointe
– Rodney Loonsfoot (Incumbent)
– Jerry Magnant “Mayo”
– Don Messer, Jr.
– Debra L. Picciano
– Jacqueline Swartz
– Dianne M. Waara

Candidates in the L’Anse District are (in alphabetical order):
– Joseph Dowd
– Eddy Edwards
– Lyndon Ekdahl
– Dylan Friisvall
– David Haataja
– Jean Jokinen
– Gary Loonsfoot, Jr. (Incumbent)
– Jennifer Misegan
– Evelyn Ravindran

In each district, two council seats are available. The top four vote-getters will advance to the general election.

Council members Elizabeth “Popcorn” Mayo and Michael LaFernier Sr. are not running for re-election.

Candidates for Associate Judge are (in alphabetical order):
– Violet M. Friisvall Ayres (Incumbent)
– Tyler Larson
– Corey R. Pietila

One position is available. The top two vote-getters will advance to the general election.
