The first load of ore from the new Eagle East Mine in Marquette County has been delivered to the Lundin Mining Company’s Humboldt Mill for processing.
Mine Managing Director Kristen Mariuzza says it’s the result of a lot of effort…
The Eagle East project is headquartered at the same site as the original Eagle Mine, on the Yellow Dog Plain. Mariuzza says bringing it online won’t create any additional jobs…
… but it will extend the life of the project, and the duration of the existing jobs, to 2025.
Lundin recently discontinued searching for additional minerals in the region, and plans to dismantle the mine and return the site to a natural state at that time.
