While Hancock City Manager Barry Givens is out on medical leave, the workload is being handled by city staff putting in a lot of extra time.
One of those people doing a lot of work is City Clerk Mary Babcock, who recently resigned from her position on the Hancock School Board so she could free up more time for the city.
At their regular meeting Wednesday, the Hancock City Council made a move to make sure Babcock is being compensated for all that extra effort.
The Council approved a resolution to name Babcock an interim Assistant City Manager for six months or until Givens returns.
She will receive an additional $1,000 a month for the position.
