UPDATE 4:56pm: The Houghton Police Department says 82-year-old Eva Vencato was located near the Bill Nichols Trail #3 by family members assisting in the search at 2:35pm Sunday. Eva was transported to UP Health System–Portage for follow up treatment.

The search was coordinated by Superior Search and Rescue, who thanked the overwhelming support from local police, fire, first responders and numerous public volunteers.

UPDATE 3:25pm–Chris Van Arsdale from the Houghton County Office of Emergency Management has told us that the search for 82-year-old Eva Vencato has ended and that she has been found.

He thanks the community for all of the volunteers that helped in the search and that further volunteers will not be needed.

UPDATE 12:57pm–The City of Houghton Police Department says the search for 82-year-old Eva Vencato continues. Residents in the City of Houghton and surrounding areas are asked to search their property and vehicles to aid in the search effort. Assisting the City of Houghton Police Department are Superior Search and Rescue, Michigan State Police, Hancock Police Department, Houghton Fire Department, MTU Public Safety, United States Coast Guard, Civil Air Patrol, along with numerous citizen volunteers. Anybody with any information are asked to please contact the City of Houghton Police Department at (906) 482-2121 or dial 911. Houghton Police are advising the public that volunteers will be on foot walking through residential areas.

Officials in Houghton are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing woman with Alzheimer’s disease.

82-year-old Eva Grace Vencato was reported missing from a home on Sugar Maple Lane in Houghton around 1:00 yesterday afternoon.

Vencato has grey hair, blue eyes, is 5’7″ tall, and weighs 120 pounds. She was wearing a long-sleeved black pajama shirt, blue jeans, moccasin slippers, and glasses.

If you have any information about Vencato’s whereabouts, the Houghton City Police Department asks that you call 911.
