The Sox put the game away with three runs off Buck Farmer in the eighth. JaCoby Jones homered and tripled for Detroit.

The Tigers have put pitcher Jordan Zimmermann back on the injured list because of muscle spasms in his neck. Zimmermann has had neck problems before, and spent time on the IL earlier this season with a back problem. Pitcher Eduardo Jimenez has been brought back from Toledo. Pitcher Victor Alcántara has also been brought off the injured list. He was assigned to the Mud Hens. Third baseman Jeimer Candelario might also be headed to the IL.
