Ishpeming Man Injured In Crash

A Marquette County man is recovering after being injured in a crash Sunday morning.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post responded to the accident just after 8:00am on County Road 581 near Southwood Lane in Ely Township.

A 40-year-old Ishpeming man was traveling northbound in a blue 2010 Subaru Forester when he lost control and struck a power pole, breaking it in half.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to UP Health System—Marquette by ambulance.

A passenger in the vehicle was uninjured in the crash.

Seat belts were being worn but authorities say that drugs are believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.

Anttila’s Towing, UP Health Systems Marquette, Ishpeming Township Fire Department, Ely Township First Responders and Upper Peninsula Power Company assisted at the scene.
