The new U.P. Energy Task Force met for the first time yesterday.

That’s Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Council President Chris Swartz, who noted that Tribal leaders in the Straits area remain very concerned about the effects of a potential leak there.
Other local members of the Task Force include David Camps, of Hancock, the owner of Blue Terra Energy, and Roman Sidortsov, an assistant professor of energy at Michigan Technological University.
The next step for the Task Force will be to establish a series of public meetings around the U.P. The group is charged with developing a propane plan by March 31st, 2020; and a comprehensive energy plan by March 31st, 2021.
