Houghton Native Deployed as Conservation Officer

A Houghton native is part of the newest class of Michigan Conservation Officers to be deployed across the state. Byron Parks has been assigned to Ontonagon County.

In a release from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Parks said he saw conservation officers assisting with relief efforts after last year’s Father’s Day flood, and hopes to be able to serve the community in similar fashion.

Two other new officers have been assigned to the western Upper Peninsula. Anna Viau will work in Iron County, and Ariel Corr will be stationed in Dickinson County.

The new officers have completed 23 weeks of in-class education, along with field training and work as probationary officers around the state.
