Dog Dies In House Fire

A fire in the city of Ishpeming has claimed the life of a dog.

The Ishpeming Fire Department was dispatched to the residence on Bank Street at 12:47am Saturday.

A neighbor reportedly saw the smoke and flames coming from the home and called 911.  The only resident of the home was at work at the time of the fire.

When firefighter’s arrived on the scene, heavy smoke and fire were coming from the rear of the residence.  Crews remained on scene for 2 1/2 hours.

The home suffered heavy smoke and water damage.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The resident’s dog perished in the fire. No other injuries were reported,

Pigs & Heat along with the American Red Cross were contacted for the fire victim.
