Obituary: Donald J. Roy

Houghton

Donald J. Roy, 80, a resident of Houghton passed away Sunday,June 23, 2019, at UP Health System–Portage following a short illness.

He was born on September 11, 1938, in Hancock, a son of the late Leo and Dorothy (MacDonald) Roy. Don was a graduate of Hancock Central High School with the class of 1957.

Don was a veteran having served with the United States Navy. Upon discharge from the Navy, Don worked as a security and property manager in the Lansing area before returning to Hancock where he owned and operated at photography and art studio. He had a passion for photography his entire life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Rob Roy and his sister Dorothy Dunnebacke.

Surviving are his sister-in-law Mary Roy of Hancock, his brother-in-law Richard Dunnebacke of Houghton and several nieces, nephews and cousins

A private graveside service for Don will be held at a later time at the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
