The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy will host two online public meetings Monday, June 17, 1-2 p.m. EST (Register Here) or Tuesday, June 18, 6-7 p.m. EST (Register Here) to inform the public about the Aquila Back Forty Mine applications and permitting process.
The proposed project would be located in Menominee County.
These meetings will provide relevant information prior to the official public hearing for applications, set for June 25, 2019, at the Stephenson High School, Stephenson, Michigan. The online public meeting will include short presentations about the following:
- Oil, Gas, and Minerals Division Mining Permit Amendment: The proposed decision on an amendment application to the Aquila Back Forty Project Mining Permit MP 01 2016.
Information about this action - Air Quality Division Permit to Install: Proposed installation and operation of the open pit mine and associated ore processing facility known as the Back Forty Project.
Information about this action - Water Resources Division Permit Application: The applicant proposes to construct a tailings management facility and a contact water basin in association with the Back Forty Project mine.
