Mary Ann Junttonen, 76, of Painesdale, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.
She was born September 12, 1942, in Hancock, a daughter of the late John and Verna (Kommes) Trasti, and was a graduate of the Jeffers High School.
On June 10, 1961, she was married to Earl Junttonen in Hancock. Earl passed away January 5, 2014.
Mary Ann worked at the former Pamida and was a cook at the Houghton County jail. She also worked as a caregiver in home health.
Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, being at the lake and watching sunsets.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, John Trasti and Verna Lehto; and her husband Earl. She is survived by a daughter, Colleen (Steven) Suhonen of Ahmeek; son, Gregory Junttonen of Oahu, Hawaii; grandsons, Emmett Heine of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Steven Suhonen and Joshua Suhonen both of Ahmeek; sisters, Alice (Reino) Taskila of Tucson, Arizona, Rita (Richard) Lindgren of Tamarack, Lucille (David) Mihelac of Painesdale; a brother, Paul (Paula) Trasti of Jacobsville; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and her cat and companion, Smokey.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Range Apostolic Lutheran Church in South Range, with Pastor Chuck Bylkas to officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Toivola Cemetery.
