Deal On Auto Insurance Reform Reached

Reforming the auto insurance is much closer to becoming a reality after a deal was struck between Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Republicans in the state legislature.

Details have not been announced but a vote is expected Friday and Whitmer says she will sign it into law.

Republicans have pushed to end lifetime medical benefits required to be included in auto insurance plans in hopes of reducing premiums.

Drivers would be able to choose the level of coverage they wanted under the bill.

Michigan drivers pay the highest insurance premiums in the country.
