World Water Day Celebration Continues With Keynote Speaker

Michigan Tech’s celebration of World Water Day continues Monday afternoon with their keynote speaker.

The theme of this year’s event is Leaving No One Behind—Human Rights Near & Far.

Co-Founder, President, & CEO of We the People of Detroit Monica Lewis-Park will give a presentation called “Mapping the Water Crisis of Unaffordability” at the Memorial Union Ballroom at 4:00pm.

The Keweenaw Bay Indian Community will provide the opening and the Woodland Singers will present “A Welcome to Traditional Homelands.” A reception will follow.

Then Tuesday, Michigan Tech will host a Panel Discussion following the presentation of the film “Marathon for Justice at 4:00pm.

Here is a schedule:

  • 4:00 pm: Viewing of Marathon for Justice (45 min)
  • 4:45 pm: Panel Discussion
  • 5:45 pm: Recognition of Wilderness artists, reception and
  • concluding ceremony with the Woodland Singers
