CTE Early Childhood Celebrates March Reading Month

March is Reading Month and the CTE Early Childhood Class at the Copper Country Intermediate School District is helping to promote reading to younger students.

The class hosted a reading event Friday, March 15^that Gogebic Community College.

Stacy Brey, GCC Director of Off-Campus Operations said “The instructor, Dan Stahl and his Early Childhood students did a wonderful job hosting a fun day for March is Reading Month.” 

Around 40 children, ages 3 months up to 6 years old, took part in many activities including reading out loud and reading with parents, sensory activities, games and arts and crafts.

Each child was able to take home a goody bag and a book of their choice.

The CTE Early Childhood class hopes to make this an annual event.

GCC Director Brey also said “Our college students were on spring break so it was a great time to open up the classrooms and invite children in. We were happy to see so many families take advantage of this fun time.”

• Karli Destrampe said, “The children enjoyed creating their own bracelets and seeing what was in their goody bags.”
• Aleigha Wentworth said, “This was a fun and creative way to learn through games, reading, sensory activities and arts and crafts.”
