Range Lions Donates Used Eyeglasses To World Vision

The Range Lions Club met earlier this month to elect their slate of new officers for the coming year and to support their mission to help people in need of eyeglasses.

At their meeting on Monday, March 18^th at the Range Lounge in South Range, David Wisti was named King Lion.

Installation of new officers will take place at the club’s June meeting.

The Range Lions donated 398 pairs of old, used prescription eyeglasses to World Vision to be distributed in Honduras, Peru, and Mexico.

Old eyeglasses are collected at two drop off sites in Adams Township—the Miners State Bank in South Range and the Painesdale Post Office.

The Range Lions approved several donations at the meeting, including $500 for the Helmuth M. Steinhilb Memorial Scholarship Fund to be given to a local Jeffers High School senior who will be attending college this fall.

$200 was donated to both Leader Dog for the Blind and the Houghton-Keweenaw 4-H Club.

$100 was donated to the South Range 4^th of July Committee for a t-shirt advertisement and $40 went toward an ad for the Jeffers High School yearbook.
