Walgreens Beginning To Transfer Local Shopko Pharmacy Files To Houghton Location

Walgreens is preparing to welcome former Shopko pharmacy customers following the acquisition of the department store’s local pharmacy files during their bankruptcy auction last week.

Shopko filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January as it restructures its business, including the auctioning of the pharmacies and moving several optical centers to freestanding locations. The company also slated dozens of stores for closure, though none in the Copper Country.

A representative from Walgreens says prescription files are currently being transferred from Shopko to their own pharmacies.  The transfer is automatic and patients do not need to take any action.  Patients will also receive more information in the mail about the transfer.

As a Walgreens patient, they will have access all the services Walgreens offers including the ability to fill a prescription at any Walgreens pharmacy as well nationwide prescription delivery options.

The Shopko pharmacies in Houghton, Calumet and L’Anse will all transfer prescription files to the Walgreens in Houghton at 1007 Memorial Drive.  The Shopko in Houghton will transfer files on February 5th; Calumet will transfer files on February 8th and L’Anse will transfer files on February 13th.
