NMU Ranks 6th Among Military Friendly Schools

The following press release was issued by Northern Michigan University:

Northern Michigan University ranks 6th among small public schools nationwide that have been designated 2019-20 Military Friendly Schools by Victory Media. It is NMU’s second consecutive Top-10 ranking in the category. The Military Friendly Schools designation honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide that provide benefits for military and veteran students.

In order to be ranked, educational institutions complete an extensive survey covering 10 indicators of success, which include support for student veterans on campus, graduation and employment outcomes, and military spouse policies.

Mike Rutledge, a U.S. Army retiree, works as a full-time veteran’s resource representative to help individuals on the NMU campus and in the community take advantage of all benefits available to them by virtue of their military service. Rutledge serves as the coordinator for NMU Student Veterans Services and is the staff adviser for the Student Veterans Association.
