Cold Temperatures Contributing To Blood Shortage

The recent cold snap is also contributing to a blood shortage in the Upper Peninsula.  The UPHS Regional Blood Center says there is an immediate need for all blood types.

Dana Langsford of the UPHS Regional Blood Center says the cold weather has caused local blood drives to be cancelled.

“Due to the weather, we’ve had a drive or two cancelled.  Due to the weather, we’ve had flights not leaving Marquette so we have some units that we’re still waiting for results on and we’re having a little difficulty with a couple of blood types,” said Langsford.  Those blood types are O-negative and A-negative.
