UPDATED 10/7/14 – 4:00 pm – Detour signs are up in L’Anse, as the village begins a major road project. Village Manager Bob LaFave says Broad Street and Main Street will be resurfaced… LAFAVE A. LaFave says motorists coming through town can avoid the construction on Broad Street by using Baraga Avenue. The Main Street work can be bypassed by taking Bayshore Drive from downtown to Jentoft Road. Local traffic in the construction zone will be permitted when possible, and side roads will be available. LaFave hopes the project will move quickly… LAFAVE B. Most of the cost is being covered by the state, through a 675-thousand dollar grant. The Village is contributing another 60-to-70-thousand. Village workers have already been at work along the route, resetting storm drains, and upgrading sidewalks so they’re handicap-accessible. The sidewalk project was a condition of the grant.
