LARA Says A2B Transportation May Resume Taxicab Operations

The License and Regulatory Affairs agency of the state of Michigan says that A2B Transportation in Laurium may now proceed in operating as a taxicab carrier.

LARA Public Information Officer Jeannie Vogel said a Cease and Desist Order was mailed to the company on December 13th, which went into effect immediately.

A2B was given 30 days to respond to the order and request a hearing or pay a fine within 60 days after the order becomes final if no hearing date is requested.

A2B’s owner Russell Chambers said in an interview Tuesday that he had obtained all of the necessary paperwork for licensing and was working with LARA to resolve the issue.

Vogel issued a statement late Tuesday afternoon that A2B has now obtained a certificate of registration from LARA’s Corporations, Securities and Commercial Licensing Division in Lansing.

A2B is still required to respond to the order and the state is continuing to work with the company on how to proceed.
