Boys Hoops Wins for Gremlins, Panthers, Lakes and Hornets – Tuesday Sports Wrap

High School
In high school boys basketball last night…
– Houghton shaded West Iron County 42-40 in overtime.
– Chassell downed Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 51-42.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell stopped Republic-Michigamme 64-34. Caleb Gregoire scored 32 for the Lakes.
– Ontonagon defeated Jeffers 62-52.
– L’Anse shut down Baraga 62-24.
– Ewen-Trout Creek fell to Forest Park 54-46.

On the boys schedule tonight, Calumet visits Baraga.

In girls action last night…
– Calumet dropped a 48-47 heartbreaker to Iron Mountain. Celia Kiilunen scored 16 for the Copper Kings, and Ellie Djerf added 13.

On the girls schedule this evening…
– Lake Linden-Hubbell entertains Baraga.
– Dollar Bay-Tamarack City journeys to Bessemer.
– Jeffers hosts Republic-Michigamme.
– Chassell travels to Ontonagon.
– L’Anse plays at Negaunee.
– Hancock hosts Ewen-Trout Creek at Hancock, in a game that was moved to tonight because of an earlier scheduling issue. There will be no JV game – the varsity contest will tip off at 7:00.

In high school hockey tonight…
– Calumet skates at Houghton.
– Hancock travels to Escanaba.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University women’s soccer team has added a new recruit. Faithann Dennis is a four-year varsity player from Wayne, Michigan.

MTU/NMU
The Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team fell 58-50 to 20th-ranked Lewis University last evening.

The NMU men’s team opens the Bellarmine Classic in Louisville against Southern Indiana University this afternoon.

The Michigan Tech football team has a new offensive line coach. Jace Daniels joins the staff after filling that same role for the past two seasons at Northern Michigan University. Daniels played college ball at NMU, after graduating from Escanaba High School. He went on to play for the Miami Dolphins in the NFL, and for teams in the Canadian and Arena leagues.

MTU men’s basketball player Dawson Bilski has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week. Bilski scored a career-best 25 points in the Huskies’ win over Wisconsin-Stout.

NBA
A late Detroit Pistons comeback fell short, as they lost 107-104 to the Milwaukee Bucks last night. Reggie Bullock led Detroit with 24 points. The Pistons visit the Minnesota Timberwolves tomorrow night. Pregame coverage begins at 7:25 on 99.3 The Lift.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings visit the Philadelphia Flyers this evening. Pregame coverage starts at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL
In last night’s NFL game, the New Orleans Saints got past the Carolina Panthers 12-9. If you played The Wolf Pro Football Challenge, you must have selected at least 10 games correctly to qualify to be our weekly winner.

Our high school basketball coverage continues Thursday, when the Chassell girls play at Hancock. The pregame show will begin around 7:00 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
