Veterans Affairs has lifted a deferment against the Houghton County Medical Care Facility.
Facility Administrator Kim Salmi received word Wednesday from the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain that the deferment was lifted following discussions last week between the two organizations.
A press release from the Medical Care Facility dated November 15th explained that the deferment for new admissions had been placed on the facility in January. The action did not affect any residents already at the facility or their benefits.
The VA’s Contract Nursing Home Review Team said they will be recommending renewal of the contract with the facility.
