Michigan Tech forward Trenton Bliss has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week. Bliss scored two goals in the Huskies’ split with Northern Michigan University last weekend. NMU’s Atte Tolvanen was named the WCHA Goaltender of the Week.

Jimmy Howard made 42 saves, as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 last night. Dennis Cholowski, Frans Nielsen and Dylan Larkin scored for Detroit. The Wings visit the Washington Capitals tonight. Pregame coverage begins at 7:10 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Detroit Pistons lost their fifth straight game last night, 116-102 to the Philadelphia 76ers. Luke Kennard scored a career-best 28 points, as coach Dwayne Casey gave Blake Griffin a night off. The Detroit Tigers have signed a one-year deal with pitcher Tyson Ross. Ross was an All-Star in 2014. He missed the 2016 season after surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome, and compiled an 8-9 record with a 4.15 earned run average last summer for the Padres and Cardinals. Meanwhile, Tigers lost outfield prospect Mike Gerber on waivers to the Giants.
