Calumet will host Westwood in the opening round of the high school football playoffs this coming weekend. The undefeated Copper Kings are seeded second in District One of Division Six. Traverse City St. Francis will host Elk Rapids in the other district semifinal. Listen for all of Calumet’s playoff games on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
In other match-ups of regional interest, unbeaten Ishpeming will host Gwinn in a Division Eight opener, and Forest Park will begin play in Eight-man Division Two at North Central.

The Michigan Tech soccer team blanked Ashland University 2-0 yesterday. Leah Goldman and Jesse Jacobusse scored late in the game, as the Huskies won their fourth straight.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will face the Boston Red Sox in the World Series beginning tomorrow night in Boston.
Former Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus has been hired to manage the Los Angeles Angels. The Cincinnati Red have hired David Bell to be their new manager. He’s the son of former Tigers’ manager Buddy Bell.

The Detroit Pistons will host the Philadelphia 76ers tomorrow evening. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:30 on 99.3 The Lift.
