UPPCO Seeking Rate Increase Approval

What goes down, must go up.

After a series of minor reductions in electric rates, Upper Peninsula Power Company is now seeking an increase of 9.71 percent, effective in July of 2019.

UPPCO has filed for approval for the increase from the Michigan Public Service Commission.

Customers had received some reductions in their bills due to savings passed on in part from the Trump administration’s tax law and the elimination of System Support Resource payments.

If approved, the increase will generate an additional $9.9 million in annual revenue for UPPCO.
