Obituary: Margaret Helen Jones

Calumet–Margaret Helen Jones (Meyers) 84, lost a short battle with cancer on Friday, August 31st surrounded by her family.

She graced the world with her presence on October 19, 1933, when she became the daughter of Carl and Helen Meyers of Calumet and little sister to Maryann Battersby (Meyers).  She grew up attending Calumet schools, graduating from Calumet High School in 1951.  One evening she made her way to the “Bonton” where she met a handsome U.S. Air Force Sgt. Richard “Dick” Jones, who she married and spent 55 years as husband and wife until Dick preceded her in death.

She is survived by three children–Doug, Debra, and Rob–three grandchildren Angela (Robert) Johnson, Laura Blondin and Alex Blondin, and one great grandchild, Zachary Johnson.  Also surviving are sister MaryAnn Battersby of Laurium, nieces Barbara Battersby, Mary Pat Crampton, nephew Tim (Debbie) Battersby and great grand niece Hannah Crampton and Angela’s mother Diana Jones, cousins Bob Meyers and Joan Hendrickson.

Private family services will be held on Wednesday, September 5th at 11am at the Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Gunsoo Jung.
