Registration is now open for the fifth annual Aspirus Keweenaw Light the Night Fun Run/Walk in Laurium. Mark your calendar and get your glow on with family and friends as each year continues to get bigger and better than the last.
The event takes place on Saturday, September 15th. Light the Night kicks off at 7:15 p.m. with a free 1K for children. The 5K Fun Run/Walk follows at 7:45 p.m.
The route begins and ends in the courtyard at Aspirus Keweenaw. There will be plenty of glow sticks and optional color blasts on hand for those who want to go all-out.
Last year, more than 250 participants of all ages attended and organizers are anticipating another successful turnout.
“This is something we look forward to every year because it brings people together for a great cause and it’s a lot of fun,” said Jenn Jenich Laplander, Aspirus Keweenaw Marketing Logistics Coordinator. “It’s a great way to wrap up your summer fun by supporting your community in a big way.”
Light the Night is a fundraiser to support community needs through the Aspirus Keweenaw Health Foundation. This year, proceeds will benefit local non-profit U.P. Kids Big Brothers Big Sisters. The BBBS organization seeks to change the lives of children facing adversity, helping them realize their full potential and build their futures by providing strong and enduring, professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with volunteer mentors. Light the Night has supported the Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home, the Childhood Cancer Fund, and the creation of the Birth Place Lending Library at Aspirus Keweenaw.
Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital is located at 205 Osceola Street in Laurium. For more information, visit www.active.com, or call Jenn Jenich-Laplander at 906.337.6541.
