Jacob Turner’s return to the Tigers last night couldn’t have gone worse, as Detroit lost to the Los Angeles Angels 11-5. Jeimer Candelario’s RBI double in the top of the first staked Turner to a 2-0 lead. The Angels responded with seven runs in the bottom of the first. Eight consecutive batters reached base before Turner recorded his first out. Some sloppy Tigers’ defense added fuel to the meltdown. Turner completed the inning, but did not return for the second.
Tigers have lost five in a row, and continue that series against the Angels in Los Angeles this afternoon. Blaine Hardy will start against Jaime Barria. Pregame coverage begins at 3:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Milwaukee Brewers couldn’t hold an early lead, and fell to the San Diego Padres 11-5 last night. Milwaukee scored four times in the first inning on home runs by Jesús Aguilar and Mike Moustakas. Chase Anderson held San Diego off the board through the first two innings, but the Padres scored at least once in every remaining frame. Josh Hader took the loss in relief.
The Brewers host the Padres again tonight. Jhoulys Chacín will pitch against Brett Kennedy.
