MLB
The Detroit offense continued to struggle yesterday, as the Tigers fell to the Oakland Athletics 2-1. Following Friday’s 13-inning shutout, Detroit batters collected seven hits, but the only run came when JaCoby Jones scored on Jeimer Candelario’s single in the first inning. The scoring outage wasted a good starting effort by Jordan Zimmermann, who escaped a first-inning jam, allowed a pair of solo home runs in the third, and pitched into the seventh.

Detroit Tigers conclude that series against the Athletics in Oakland this afternoon. Francisco Liriano will start against Trevor Cahill. Pregame coverage begins at 3:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored six runs in the first inning, and cruised to an 8-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies last evening. Travis Shaw’s grand slam was the big blow for the Brewers. Hernán Pérez and Ryan Braun also homered. Freddy Peralta survived some early wildness, and gave up two runs over six innings.

The Brewers host the Rockies again this afternoon. Wade Miley will pitch against Jon Gray.

Finlandia
Iron Mountain soccer standout Bethany Fehr will join the Finlandia University women’s soccer team this season. Fehr was the Most Valuable Player on a Mountaineers team that won the UP Soccer Conference championship.

NFL
Green Bay Packers offensive tackle David Bakhtiari was carted off the field after hurting his left ankle during the Family Night practice yesterday. It’s not know how serious the injury is.
