Obituary – Nicholas John Kent

Ahmeek – Nicholas John Kent 69, passed away to be with Our Lord on July 30, 2018. Nick was born on December 17, 1948 in Elgin, Illinois to Robert and Mary Joyce (Higgins) Kent. He moved to the Copper Country in 1953 where he attended local schools. He graduated from the St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary, WI in 1968. Nick retired from the U.S. Navy in 1996, having served in the Active Seabees from 1969-1973, and in the Reserves for 16 years. Nick worked in various carpentry, construction and maintenance jobs throughout his career being a jack-of-all-trades, and was always willing to help anyone with the skills that he had. He was a past member of the Clyde Johnston American Legion Post 230, and a member of the Our Lady of Peace in Ahmeek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Stephen and sister Mary.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jule (Zubiena) Kent, his children Justin (Carmella) Kent and their children Echo, Aidan, Liam, Dominic, and Sophia, from Sanford, North Carolina; Brandon (Jolise) Kent and their children Ellora and Alden from Caledonia, MI; Hattie (Brent) Perkins and son Aiden from New Philadelphia, Ohio. He is further survived by siblings, Judy (Wayne) Peters from Freesoil, Mi, Bob Kent from Portland, MI, Paul (Karen) Kent from Gorham, ME, Patty (Frank) Robinson from Surprise, AZ; Peggy (John) Martinson from Puyallup, WA; John (Rita) Kent from Sarasota, Fl; and Peter Kent from Mohawk, MI. He also will be missed by special Higgins cousins, all his nieces and nephews and many loving friends. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to charities for special needs children, veterans programs, or a charity of your choice. Private services will be held at a later date. Ryan Funeral Home is serving the family.
