Knights Support Greenhouse Project

The greenhouse donated to the Transition Program by Copper Country Mental Health.

The Calumet Knights of Columbus has donated $811.68 cents to the Copper Country Intermediate School District Greenhouse Project. The money was raised during the group’s recent Tootsie Roll sale.

The Greenhouse Project has been operating as part of the Community Transition Program since 2002, using a plastic-covered hoop structure. Last fall, Copper County Mental Health donated a more permanent greenhouse that had been removed from one of its facilities. Since then, a fundraising campaign has been in progress to rehabilitate and install the structure. Ground was broken for the foundation last week, with a goal of having the facility ready by next spring.

The Community Transition Program works with 18-to-26 year old adults with cognitive disabilities, and helps them learn skills so they can live on their own.
