Drowning Man Saved By Ontonagon DPW Employee

A man was rescued from drowning Wednesday at the Ontonagon Village Marina.

The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened around 2:30pm.

A 56 yr old Ontonagon resident was launching his boat when it drifted away from the dock. The owner swam out to retrieve the boat and began to struggle to stay above water.

An Ontonagon Village DPW employee, Daniel McGuire, saw this happening and dove in and rescued the man.

The man was brought to his resident and his vehicle and boat were retrieved later in the day.
