The programs were delayed by one week due to the flooding in June but by week two, Michigan Tech News reports that flood recovery was well underway and it was all systems go.

There are nearly 1,300 participants this year, with middle through high school students exploring various STEM programs.

Those campers come from 32 different states and 11 countries.

Last year, Summer Youth Camp alumni made up nine percent of Michigan Tech’s student body, with 95 percent of those alumni majoring in STEM fields.

Many of the 60 camp counselors were once campers themselves.

Summer Youth Camps will continue through early August.
