The reopening of Sharon Avenue at M-26 in Houghton is being delayed once again despite work crews best efforts.
City Manager Eric Waara gave an update on the roads to the Houghton City Council at their regular meeting Wednesday.
The culverts that were washed out by the June 17th storm have been replaced and crews have been working to reopen the road to traffic in an incredibly short amount of time.
Original reports indicated the road may be open on Monday, then the target was moved to Tuesday evening.
As of Wednesday, Waara said they are hoping to reopen the road by late today, though the rain may delay work once again.
Waara also explained that there have been several new problems popping up on roads throughout the city that were not immediately evident after the storm.
As the roads are subjected to heat and traffic, they continue to buckle and holes are opening up.
Waara said road crews are doing their best to mark these new issues and address them as soon as they can.
