Finlandia’s Dr. Hilary-Joy Virtanen is now a member of the Finlandia Foundation National Board of Trustees.
The trustees elected Virtanen to the board at their March meeting in Dallas.
Virtanen is the Finnish & Nordic Studies professor at Finlandia University.
She holds a Master’s and Ph.D. in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; an MA from Indiana University; and a BA from Michigan State University.
Dr. Virtanen will serve as the chair of the Lecturer of the Year committee and as a member of the History and Future committees.
She is the assistant editor of the Journal of Finnish Studies and a member of the Finnish Theme Committee, Hancock’s Finlandia Foundation National chapter, and the board of directors of FinnFest USA 2013.
