MLB
The Detroit Tigers’ losing streak reached 10 games last night, with a 3-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Detroit pitchers threw eight shutout innings, but the Jays scored three times off Francisco Liriano in the fourth inning. Liriano recovered, pitched through the sixth, gave up seven hits, and took the loss. Jeimer Candelario homered for Detroit.

The Tigers continue that series at Toronto today. Matthew Boyd will pitch against Sam Gaviglio. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored five times with two outs in the ninth inning, to nail down an 8-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds last night. Keon Broxton blasted two home runs, and drove in four. Chase Anderson allowed a run on just two hits over six innings to get the win.

The Brewers continue that series at Cincinnati this afternoon. Jhoulys Chacín will start against Tyler Mahle.

Outfielder Ryan Braun left last night’s game with tightness in his lower back. He’s considered day-to-day. Hernán Pérez replaced him in an outfield that is now missing all three starters. Christian Yelich also has a stiff back, and Lorenzo Cain is on the Disabled List with a groin strain.

NBA
With new head coach Dwane Casey in place, the Detroit Pistons are filling out their staff.  Sidney Lowe and Sean Sweeney have been appointed assistant coaches. Lowe played a few games for Detroit in the 1984-85 seasons, and was an assistant coach under Flip Saunders in in the 2005-2006 season. He’s been a head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies, and worked most recently for the Washington Wizards. Sweeney spent the past four seasons as an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks.
