Crew Clobbers Cards – Friday Sports Wrap

MLB
The Detroit Tigers had yesterday off, and begin a weekend series at Cleveland tonight. Mike Fiers will pitch against Shane Bieber. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers blasted the Saint Louis Cardinals 11-3 last night. Manny Piña homered. Eric Thames had a triple, and drove in three runs. Brent Suter threw seven strong innings, giving up two runs on just two hits.

The Brewers entertain the Cardinals again tonight. Junior Guerra will start against Jack Flaherty.

Twilight League
In Copper Country Twilight League baseball tonight…
– Wolverine-Orbit pounded REL-Mohawk Technologies 12-2.
– Superior National Bank-Stanton scored three runs in the first inning, and cruised past Dean Kangas-State Farm 8-3.

Softball
Both of tonight’s Copper Country Women’s Softball League games scheduled for tonight have been postponed.

NHL
The first round of the NHL Entry Draft will take place tonight. The Red Wings will have the sixth and 30th selections. Rounds two through seven will be held tomorrow.

NBA
The NBA Draft was held last night. The Phoenix Suns used the first pick to take Arizona freshman center Deandre Ayton. The Pistons did not have a first-round selection. They obtained the Philadelphia 76ers’ second-round pick in exchange for two future second-round selections, and used it to take Creighton point guard Khyri Thomas. They used their own second-round pick to select shooting guard Bruce Brown Jr. from Miami.
