Houghton County –Western Upper Peninsula Health Department has been provided with confirmation from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality that the following community water supplies did not experience any damage or loss of pressure during the weekend storms: Houghton, Hancock, Portage Township, Chassell, Adams Township, South Range, Calumet, Laurium, Lake Linden, Hubbell, Dollar Bay, and Ripley. These communities can continue to use the drinking water supply on a normal basis.
A boil water advisory remains in effect for approximately fifty customers in the Torch Lake area due to a water main break. These customers have received individual notification to not drink the water and bottled water has been provided. The precautionary boil water advisory will continue to be recommended for any individual person or business who is aware that their water service line has been damaged or is experiencing loss of water pressure or discolored water conditions. Report any water quality issues to your water utility provider.
