Tigers, Brewers Earn Narrow Wins – Monday Sports Wrap

MLB
Blaine Hardy turned in seven strong innings, as the Detroit Tigers edged the Chicago White Sox 3-2 yesterday. Hardy allowed a run on three hits, retiring the past 14 batters he faced. Detroit got a run in the second on a Grayson Greiner RBI double, and two in the fifth on RBI singles by Dixon Machado and Nicholas Castellanos. Shane Greene gave up a solo home run in the top of the ninth, but earned the save.

The Tigers will host the California Angels this afternoon. Matthew Boyd will start against Tyler Skaggs. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers came from behind with four runs in the seventh inning, then held off the New York Mets 8-7 yesterday. Jesús Aguilar homered and drove in four runs. The comeback rescued starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacín, who gave up a four-spot in the second inning, then pitched into the seventh while allowing just one more run.

The Brewers host the St. Louis Cardinals this afternoon.Brent Suter will pitch against Luke Weaver.

NBA
The Cleveland Cavaliers advanced to the NBA championship series with an 87-79 victory over the Boston Celtics in game seven of the Eastern Conference final last night. The Western Conference final will be resolved tonight, when Golden State plays at Houston. That series is tied 3-3.

NHL
The Stanley Cup playoff begins tonight, when Washington skates at Vegas.
