Franklin Township Holding Flag Design Contest

Franklin Township wants to be the first township in Houghton County to have its own flag and they are giving everyone in the Copper Country an opportunity to help design it.

Township Supervisor Mary Sears presented the details of the competition to the Houghton County Board of Commissioners at their regular meeting Tuesday.

There will be a 1st place prize of $500 for the winning design, along with $100 for second and $50 for third.

Submissions are to be turned into the Franklin Township office by Wednesday, August 15th.

Entries must include an explanation of the meaning for any colors or symbols.

Participants are asked to keep the designs simple.

The winners will be selected by township residents at a party on Saturday, August 18th from noon to 3pm.

Everyone is welcome to come to the party but only township residents can vote for the flag design.

Details on the contest can be found at the Franklin Township website.
