New Patrol Car for Houghton Police Department

The Houghton Police Department will soon be adding a new squad car to its fleet of cruisers. City council unanimously passed a vote last night to purchase a new patrol car and retire the oldest one of the departments existing fleet.

Estimated costs for the new vehicle are around $35,000. However the city will only have to pay $16,000 thanks to a Rural Development Grant that covers 55 percent.

Police Chief John Donnelly, says he’s still deciding on a specific model and the department should have the new car within the next couple of months.
