A two-vehicle accident in Houghton sent an elderly woman to the hospital Monday.
The accident happened shortly before 11:30am at the intersection of Sharon Avenue and M-26.
The Houghton Police Department says a Toyota driven by an 85-year-old Hancock woman was traveling south on M-26 and failed to yield while turning east onto Sharon Avenue.
A Saturn driven by an 18-year-old woman from Hancock was traveling north on M-26 and struck the Toyota.
The 85-year-old woman was taken to U.P. Health System–Portage by Mercy Ambulance. Her condition was not reported.
Assisting on the scene was the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan Tech Public Safety and Police Services, Houghton Fire Department, Adams Township First Responders, and Michigan Tech First Responders.
The accident remains under investigation by the Houghton Police Department.
