31 Backpacks needs your help to make sure kids have enough food for Spring Break.
Many families depend on local schools for help feeding their children and when school is not in session, many of those kids go hungry.
The Big Pack is when volunteers gather to package food for at-risk kids. Set up is at 2pm this Sunday at Glad Tidings Assembly of God church in Hancock. The Big Pack takes place on Tuesday at 5:45pm and
Though the volunteers will work hard, 31 Backpacks Director Laurel Maki says it’s also a lot of fun. “Even though this is a program for children or students, we ask that you do not bring children along. It’s pretty face-paced. Just show up. We need all the volunteers we can get and you’re guaranteed to have a wonderful time and something to talk about for a long time,” Maki said.
There’s no need to sign up, just show up and help.
The school districts will send vans and buses to pick up the bags Wednesday at 8am. There will be 708 13-gallon bags going to the various schools to be distributed to the families.
